1. What are “Office Hours” and why should you attend?

"Office hours" in college are designated times when professors are available for one-on-one or small group meetings with students outside of regular classes. These hours are typically scheduled by the professor and can be found in the syllabus.

Students should attend office hours for several reasons:

• Academic Clarification: Seek explanations and guidance on challenging course material, assignments, or readings to enhance understanding.

That’s okay! It happens. I know that it can take bravery and vulnerability to admit that you don’t understand a concept, especially after it’s been explained to you. It could mean that you need help to understand a more foundational concept. In other words, let’s say you’re not understanding lesson 3 in a class. It might be because you didn’t quite catch something in lesson 1 that is necessary for you to understand lesson 3.

The "Writing Center" is an academic support resource aimed at helping students improve their writing skills. Tutors in writing centers help in understanding assignments, generating ideas, supporting arguments, organizing essays or presentations, refining writing styles, and enhancing editing skills. Keep in mind that writing consultants are there to assist you, not do the work for you.
